FAQ Answers
    • Non-Profit Access Usage
      • Am I only allowed to accept donations for one general cause?
No, once you create a Non-Profit account you will see that signing up automatically creates one "General" cause for you, this is used by Donors that do not have a specific cause that they would like to support but rather just want to donate to your Non-Profit.  However, if your Non-Profit would like to create a new cause you may do so by visiting your "Causes" section under your Non-Profit access.  This is helpful in cases where you have separate causes that you accept donations for.  Donors will be able to select which of your Non-Profit's causes they want to support under your listing.
      • How can I request support from participating DonorCharge businesses/shoppers?
You may request support for businesses through DonorCharge by performing a business/donor search, you may search by business/donor location, name, or interest.  You may then submit a request through DonorCharge to request that businesses support, if that business is interested in supporting you they will be able to reply through DonorCharge.  At this time you cannot accept support from Shoppers through DonorCharge - but they can locate your Non-Profit and support your causes if they so choose.
      • What if I want to request a donation from a Business/Donor that's not yet a DonorCharge participant?
If you have a business/donor that's not already on DonorCharge and would like to request their support, we can get in touch with that business for you to request that they join and support your Non-Profit/Charity.  Just email info@donorcharge.com with the business's information and we will get in touch with them for you!  Please be aware that there is no guarantee that the business will want to join DonorCharge,  but in many cases if they're already supporting your Non-Profit they will be interested.
      • May I add video on my Non-Profit/Charity?
Yes, and we encourage it if you have any positive YouTube video that you would like to share.  Just let us know that you have video and we will add it to your DonorCharge profile, so if a potential Donor takes a look at your profile they will be able to learn much more about you through your video.
      • Are online reports available to us?
Yes you may view donation history through our online reporting section of your Non-Profit Access.  You may view totals by month and break down donations made by donors.

Yes you may, if you would like to setup the capability to accept standard credit or debit card donations from customers we can help you.  If a Non-Profit chooses to setup this feature they will enable DonorCharge visitors to see a link stating "Make a One-Time Direct Donation".  Someone interested in supporting you may then click this link, fill out their information and causes that they would like to support, submit the donation, and your Non-Profit will be notified of the donation instantly.  Direct Donations will take 24-48 hours to reach your Non-Profit's account.  If you are interested in adding our DonorCharge Direct Donations feature as well feel free to email info@donorcharge.com or call Thompson Merchant Services at 800-298-9656.

    Businesses or Shoppers

  • Signing Up
    • How do I signup as a DonorCharge Business or Shopper?
Signing up as a Business/Donor is also free. To signup as a business visit the "business access" section, or as a shopper visit the "shopper access" section, complete the required fields and that's it. There is no startup fee or monthly fee to use the service. If you're a business member there may be a change in processing networks however, in order to register you as an "In-Network" business, depending on who your account is currently with. If there is a change in network requirement we do have access to the top payment networks that 9 out or 10 times are compatible with your existing equipment, so if you do need to change - it will be minimal and very often costs less than the service that you're currently on.

  • "Member Access" usage
    • How do I support Non-Profit or Charity causes?
You may easily support causes once you login to your member access section.  Simply search for a Non-Profit either by name, location, category or keyword.  You will then see a list of Non-Profits to choose from, you may view their Non-Profit profile, video (if they have a video), officer information, etc.  If you like this non-profit you can take a look at which causes they have (In case they have various "causes" or initiatives") and you can check which cause you're interested in supporting, that's it.  And don't forget to tell DonorCharge how much to allocate to your supported causes (below).
    • How do I allocate how much goes to which cause? which cause?
Simple, under your cause allocation section you will see a list of the causes you have chosen to support.  Just type in the percentage of your available donation funds that you would like to go to these causes.  You may enter "0" (if you do not want to give anything to that cause) or type in percentage number.
    • What if I want to donate to a Non-Profit/Charity that's not yet a DonorCharge participant?not yet a DonorCharge participant?
f you know of a non-profit/charity that's not already on DonorCharge and would like to get them on board so you can support them, we can get in touch with that non-profit for you to request that they join and receive your support.  Just email info@donorcharge.com with the non-profit's information and we will get in touch with them for you!  It's free with no monthly fee, so in most cases non-profits will be happy to join and receive your support so it would be rare to receive a decline under those circumstances.

    • Can I see how much has been donated via online reports? via online reports?
Yes you do have access to online reports through your member access section.  The reports gives you breakdowns on what was donated to which Non-Profit along with monthly donation totals and summaries.

  • Why Choose DonorCharge.com
    • Why not just donate to my preferred Non-Profits directly?
We encourage you to continue supporting your favorite Non-Profits directly (if fact you may do this with the DonorCharge Direct Donations feature that may be enabled if your favorite charity is a DonorCharge Member).  Non-Profits often need your help in other ways such as actually sending representatives to help with projects,. However the time and effort saved with not having to respond to Non-Profit requests for donations, spending time writing checks, etc is difficult to overlook.  With DonorCharge you find your Non-Profit in our search, check their cause that you would like to support, and that's it!  If you would like to support a Non-Profit that's not already on DonorCharge we can easily add with no start up or monthly fees, just email info@donorcharge.com with the Non-Profit's information and we will get in touch with them for you!  Through DonorCharge shoppers also support businesses that they know are involved in worthwhile causes, and businesses can attract shoppers that are interested in supporting their favorite charities as well when they buy from in-network companies - it's a win-win through DonorCharge!

    Shopper Specific

  • How do you track my usage?
    A. DonorCharge gathers usage information by accessing to backend merchant data (which we already have access to).  Because DonorCharge is a closed loop network where shoppers support businesses who are in network, we can track your usage easily via your partial credit card information.

  • Are you storing my full card number locally?
    A. No, DonorCharge does not require your full card number, nor expiration date, nor do we require your banking login id and password.  We only need the first 6 and last 4 of your card number that you would like to use and a voided check from your checking account to actually bill you for your total allocated donation amounts.  We also secure the first 6 and last 4 - this makes your card info pretty much theft-proof as it is only partial yet still encrypted.  If you opt to pay your donation totals via credit card instead of checking account then we will request your full card number and store it on our PCI compliant gateway servers.
  •
  • Are you billing me each time I use my card?
    A. No, we do understand that many banks charge additional fees when you go over a certain number of monthly debits, so we debit the total amount of funds to donate via one monthly debit (bi-weekly debits is also an option that will be available soon).
  •
  • Can I tie in either my checking account or credit card to pay donation totals allocated to causes?
A.Yes, credit card billing for donation totals is an option. Shoppers may use their checking account, credit card, or debit card for donation totals. As an FYI when shoppers tie in their credit card or debit card to pay for monthly donation totals the Non-Profit does receive their donations minus a 3.50%-4.50% credit card processing percentage - this percentage will NOT apply to non-profit's donations when shoppers tie in their checking account to pay donation totals, it only applies when a shopper pays their totals via credit card.
  •
  • Are my donations tax deductable?
    A. If the Non-Profit you are supporting is a 501c3 or 501c6 registered charity then yes you are able to receive tax credits for your donations.  Donation totals are stored online under your DonorCharge shopper access backend.  If you are supporting a non 501c3 or a 501c6 charity then your donations may not be tax deductable.  You may get in contact with the charity to find out whether or not they are a 501c3 or 501c6.
  •
  • What if I want to support charity when purchasing from an out of network business?
    A. DonorCharge is a closed loop network where you have to buy from participating businesses that have agreed to participate and support charities themselves - this keeps your information secure and keeps our costs very low, which enables us to not charge additional percentages for donations, or any setup fees or monthly fees for usage of this program.

  • Do I have to support the same charities that the business supports?
    A. No, you don't even have to tell the business where you want the money to go, you simply login, tell DonorCharge which charities you want to support, and we do the rest. For example, if you're a Democrat and are buying from a business that supports Republicans your donation still goes to your party of choice regardless of what the business supports - and vice versa. DonorCharge handles where the money goes, not the business.

There is no obligation to use the service. Businesses and Shoppers may opt to either donate a small amount of cents per transaction, or a small percentage of sales to their preferred Non-Profits, DonorCharge will handle the rest.
